Corning, which develops Gorilla Glass for mobile displays, is set to ship a protective coating for flexible smartphones. The first customer may be Samsung. Corning will supply a flexible protective cover for the company’s foldable smartphones, competing with the German firm Schott. It is currently the only supplier of a substrate for the production of ultra-thin glass Ultra Thin Glass.
Testing of flexible protective glass has been taking place since the beginning of autumn 2020. Now, the development of products for devices with flexible screens is in its final stage. They should appear on the market already in 2021.
